Inclusive Schools Week
December 6th- 10th 2021
The Inclusive Schools Network and the School District of Clayton has designated the week of December 6th-10th, as INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS WEEKTM ; the first full week of December annually since 2001. This annual event was created to celebrate the progress schools have made toward providing a quality education for our increasingly diverse student population and those students marginalized due to disability, gender, socio-economics status, cultural heritage, language preference and other factors.
During the past eighteen months, the world has experienced an extraordinary degree of separation. We have been separated from our classmates, friends, family, colleagues, and community.
Throughout history, great trials have always resulted in unprecedented responses. Albert Einstein once described the phenomenon, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” Today’s challenges present us with the unique opportunity of “Rebuilding Our Inclusive Community Together”, the theme for Inclusive Schools Week 2021.
Inclusive Schools Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the journey of educators, students, parents and community members as we renew our commitment to inclusive education and work together to restore and rebuild a shared community of learners, educators, and leaders. Working together, we can steer our schools and ultimately our society toward that place where ALL students belong and are successful.
